Table of Contents

Built on the powerful Magento 2 technology, Umino combines stunning visuals with seamless functionality, providing a premium e-commerce experience for both merchants and customers. To utilize Magento version 2 effectively, there are certain requirements that need to be fulfilled. These requirements ensure the smooth operation and optimal performance of your Magento 2 installation. Here are the key prerequisites:

Magento 2 technology stack requirements

Magento 2.4.x technology stack requirements

You must install Elasticsearch or OpenSearch before installing Adobe Commerce or Magento Open Source 2.4 to use Magento 2.4.x

Magento 2.3.x technology stack requirements

If you are using PHP versions lower than 7.4.x and Adobe Commerce lower than 2.4.x, we recommend that you upgrade them to the latest version to take full advantage of the new updated features and help maintain PCI compliance. Since PHP 7.3 reached end of support in December 2021 and Adobe Commerce 2.3.x reached end of support in September 2022.

How to choose Hosting for Magento: Vps, Dedicated or Shared?

Choosing the right hosting option for your Magento website depends on various factors such as your budget, expected website traffic, performance requirements, and technical expertise. Let's explore the three hosting options and their suitability for Magento:

  1. VPS hosting (Recommend)

  2. Dedicated Hosting (Recommend)

  3. Shared Hosting (Not recommended)

VPS hosting

VPS stands for Virtual Private Server or a virtual Server dedicated to you where the computational capacity (CPU and RAM), disk and bandwidth are 100% always available to you. Furthermore, being a virtual Server, the basic VPS can scale in “vertical” or by adding CPU and RAM through a reconfiguration of the plan you have purchased and a subsequent reboot.

Dedicated Hosting

With this type of hosting, on the other hand, unlike shared hosting, you have the entire physical server at your disposal . This therefore has some advantages especially in terms of machine customization. It is therefore a hosting service where every type of resource (CPU, RAM, DISK, BAND) is 100% dedicated to us

Why choose dedicated hosting over a shared solution? Surely the main advantage is to have all the resources at our disposal and it is recommended for medium and large sites that need dedicated resources.

Shared Hosting

A shared hosting is when within the same server machine are hosted more websites. Basically a shared hosting service occurs when the computational resources (CPU and RAM) are shared resources with other clients on the same server / node.

This type of hosting is generally recommended for small sites that do not have a lot of traffic or large revenues, instead it is not recommended for sites that have thousands of users per day and to whom a hosting block could lose large sums of money. However, a big advantage of shared hosting is definitely the price, which is clearly much lower than dedicated hosting. If well configured and well optimized, even shared hosting can offer the experience of dedicated hosting as long as you buy a package that offers the minimum necessary to run Magento2 at its best: from our analyzes, the minimum cut in CPU and RAM is of 2 cores and 2 GB of ram.

=> In summary, here's a general guideline:

  • VPS hosting: Recommended for growing Magento stores with moderate to high traffic, offering better performance, scalability, and customization options.

  • Dedicated hosting: Ideal for large-scale Magento websites with high traffic and resource-intensive operations, providing maximum performance and customization control.

  • Shared hosting: Suitable for small Magento stores with low traffic and limited budgets.
